Refund policy
Effective Date: August 8, 2026
At Chirlife Ayurveda, we believe in fairness and transparency. We rigorously inspect and pack each order before dispatch. As a standard commercial policy, we do not permit returns, refunds, or exchanges for change of mind, incorrect selection, or other customer preferences. However, nothing in this policy is intended to override mandatory consumer rights under Indian law. If a product is defective, deficient, spurious, misdescribed, or delivered late, Indian law requires us to offer a remedy (such as refund or replacement). We will comply with all such legal obligations.
Below are the details of our Return & Refund Policy, combining our standard terms and the rights provided by law:
1. No Returns
- All products sold on our website are non-returnable.
- We do not accept returns for reasons like change of mind, wrong product ordered, wrong quantity, dissatisfaction with product, or any other personal reasons.
- Once a product is delivered, it cannot be returned to us under our commercial policy.
2. No Refunds
- We generally maintain a No Refund policy on all sales.
- Change of mind or buyer’s remorse do not qualify for any refund.
- The only exceptions are those required by law. In cases of defective, deficient, spurious, falsely advertised, or late-delivered goods, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and E‑Commerce Rules, 2020 mandate that sellers must take back such goods and refund the paid amount. In such cases, we will process refunds in accordance with applicable law.
- If a refund is legally required or approved, it will be issued using the original payment method (net of any non-refundable transaction fees as permitted by the payment provider and applicable law).
3. No Exchanges
- We do not offer exchanges.
- Once an order is delivered, you cannot exchange the product for a different variant, color, size, or item.
- All sales are final under our policy, unless a different remedy is mandated by law (e.g., in case of a defective item).
4. Damaged or Defective Products
- We pack orders carefully, but if a product arrives physically damaged or defective, please contact us immediately.
- Under our standard policy, damaged or defective products are not eligible for return or replacement.
- Important: Indian consumer law does not allow a seller to refuse a refund or replacement for defective or not-as-described goods. Therefore, if a product is proved to be genuinely defective or spurious, we will comply with the consumer’s legal rights. This may involve refunding the paid amount or providing a replacement, depending on the situation and applicable law.
- To make a claim for a damaged/defective product, you may be asked to provide photographs/videos of the damage. See “Claims and Time Limit” below for details.
5. Wrong, Missing, or Incorrect Products
- Upon receiving your order, please verify that the product matches what you ordered.
- If you receive a wrong product, missing item, or an item that does not match its description on our site, report it to us within 24 hours of delivery.
- We will evaluate the issue. If the product is indeed incorrect or missing, we will arrange for the correct item or otherwise remedy the situation, as required by law. (For example, the law entitles consumers to replacement or refund if the wrong item is delivered or a product is not as advertised.)
- However, under our normal policy, unintentional errors like mix-ups will be addressed without additional claims by the customer. In other words, please check your order carefully upon arrival.
6. Opened or Used Products
- If you have opened or used a product, it is not eligible for return, refund, or exchange.
- Always verify the product name, quantity, and order details before opening the packaging. Once opened or used, the sale is final.
7. Order Cancellation
- You may request an order cancellation before the item is dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate such requests if the order hasn’t left our warehouse.
- After dispatch, cancellation is NOT permitted. Once a product has been shipped via our courier partner (Shadowfax), it cannot be cancelled or returned by you for a refund under our policy.
- Please review your order details carefully before confirming the purchase.
8. Undelivered / Returned-to-Origin (RTO) Orders
- If a shipment is returned to us (for example, due to non-delivery, refusal, or an address issue), no refund will be provided.
- This includes situations such as: incorrect or incomplete address, wrong PIN code, unreachable phone number, or customer unavailable at the delivery address.
- You may ask us to re-ship the order. If possible, we will do so once you pay the applicable re-shipping charges.
9. Incorrect or Incomplete Address
- You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address and contact information.
- If an order is lost or returned because of incorrect/incomplete address or contact details provided by you, we will not issue a refund.
- In such cases, we can re-send the order after you correct the address and pay any additional shipping fees.
10. Product Expiry / Shelf Life
- Ayurvedic products have a shelf life; we list expiration or best-before dates on our packaging.
- We do not accept returns based on dissatisfaction with remaining shelf life as long as the product delivered is within its valid period. Ensure you check the expiry date if this is a concern before using the product.
- If a product appears to be beyond its expiry date at delivery, please notify us immediately.
11. Claims and Time Limit
- To make any claim (e.g., defective product, wrong item, missing content), contact us within 24 hours of delivery. We may require:
- Order number and details
- Photographs or video showing the issue (such as damage, unopened packages, wrong item, etc.)
- Any other information we reasonably need to verify the claim.
- We will not consider claims submitted after 24 hours of delivery, except when a longer period is mandated by law. For example, if you discover a defect later, you may still have rights under law (the Consumer Protection Act allows up to 2 years for latent defects, for instance). Always report any issues as soon as possible.
12. Payment and Refund Processing
- If a refund is approved (due to law or our goodwill), it will be processed to the original payment method.
- Refunds may take several business days to appear in your account, depending on your bank or payment provider’s policies.
- Any transaction charges that are legally non-refundable (such as payment gateway fees) will be borne by the customer, to the extent permitted under applicable regulations.

14. Policy Updates
Chirlife Ayurveda reserves the right to modify or update this Return & Refund Policy at any time (for example, to comply with changes in law or business practices). Any changes will be effective from the “Effective Date” above. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically. By placing an order on our website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy (as it may be updated), subject to applicable law and mandatory consumer rights.
Important Business Review
- Legal Risk Clause: A strict “No Refund / No Return” clause may conflict with mandatory consumer protections. For example, refusing to refund a defective or not-as-described product violates the Consumer Protection Act and E‑Commerce Rules. Even “No Refund” policies cannot override legal requirements.
- Clause to Change/Soften: We have mitigated risk by adding “unless required by law” disclaimers. Any refusal to accept returns or refunds must still allow legal remedies (refund or replacement) for defective or misrepresented goods. It’s safer to explicitly state compliance with consumer rights (as above).
- Additional Policy to Add: We recommend adding a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service/Conditions to your Shopify store. Also, appoint and disclose a Grievance Redressal Officer as required by law. Ensure you display all mandatory details (PAN, GSTIN, etc.) per the E‑Commerce Rules.
- Consistency with Shipping Policy: Our Shipping Policy offered refunds for damaged items, whereas this Return Policy initially forbids refunds. This is inconsistent. We resolved it by noting damaged goods will be handled as per law, aligning both policies via the legal exception. Ensure both pages reflect the same approach to defective/damaged products.
Each section above is intended to be clear to customers and to comply with Indian law. By openly acknowledging legal obligations (as cited), the policies balance your commercial goals with statutory requirements.
